KEF Holdings and Faizal & Shabana Foundation recognized for executing social and economic development in education, infrastructure and healthcare segments

Event draws participation of Senator Jason Carter and CEOs of Fortune 500 companies

Dubai-UAE: 29 March, 2015 – Faizal E Kottikollon, Founder and Chairman of KEF Holdings and his wife, Shabana Faizal have been honored by the American India Foundation (AIF) for their outstanding contributions to improving the lives of children with strategic infrastructure investments in healthcare, education and agricultural sectors.

Kottikollon is credited with resolving societal issues of high concern through the creation of model institutions. His recent initiative of Mission 100 that seeks to upgrade and rebuild 100 government schools in Kerala by 2019 has been acknowledged as a path-breaking initiative by the Kerala state government cabinet.

The AIF award ceremony was held in Atlanta, Georgia on March 27, drawing the participation of key Georgian community leaders including Senator Jason Carter, other Government and local representatives, CEOs and C-level executives from Fortune 500 companies, as well as philanthropists and academics.

The award was handed over by Dinesh Paliwal, CEO and President of Harmon International and Dr Amitabh Sharma, Chair of AIF (Atlanta Chapter).

Speaking at the ceremony, Kottikollon touched upon the collective responsibility that lies with organizations like AIF and the Foundation to work together to improve the lives of those studying in the 1.2 million government schools in India. He said, “We look forward to working closely with AIF to improve the lives of students studying in Government schools in Kerala. This program has the potential to transform the livelihoods of 250,000 students directly and their families, which means that one million lives will improve through Mission 100.”

Kottikollon added that KEF Holdings aims to drive social and economic change in India by integrating best-in-class practices, technologies and processes from across the world in its operations to offer assured quality and a significant reduction of investments in time and costs.

AIF, a non-profit association was founded in 2001 at the initiative of former US President Bill Clinton after the Gujarat earthquake following a request from Prime Minister Vajpayee. They have so far invested over US$92 million in India. Aiming to catalyze social and economic change in India and build stronger US-India ties, AIF has transformed the lives of more than 1.9 million of India’s poor and has targeted five million people by 2018.
